Experts suggest that the national and industrial standards for wood plastic composite products be issued as soon as possible
China currently has 170 plastic wood composite production enterprises, with an annual output value of more than 1.2 billion yuan, making it the second largest producer in the world. Experts predict that in the next few years, the scale of China's plastic wood composite industry will grow at an average annual rate of 30% - 50%, and the final market capacity will reach 10million tons per year, with an annual output value of more than 50billion yuan. However, the standard of this industry is still blank at present, which leads some enterprises to take the toxic waste plastic polyvinyl chloride (PVC) as the main production raw material in order to reduce costs, so that the original green and environmental friendly plastic wood products have become toxic products. Chenzhenlou, a professor at the school of resources and Environmental Sciences of East China Normal University, suggested that relevant departments should introduce relevant policies and standards as soon as possible
according to the introduction, plastic wood composite material is a kind of environmental protection composite material made of recycled waste wood, bagasse and other wastes, mixed with recycled waste plastics in a certain proportion, and then added with special processing aids through high-temperature extrusion. At the same time, it also has wood. The recent global certification of the Building Research Institute (BRE) has proved the dual characteristics of wood and plastic. It is non-toxic and environmental friendly. Its service life in normal outdoor environment is times that of general natural wood. Plastic wood composites have been listed as green energy-saving and environmental protection products by many countries, such as the United States, Canada, Australia, Germany and so on, and have received strong support. The American plastic wood market produced more than 400000 tons in 2005, making it the world's largest producer and consumer of plastic wood. At present, according to the Research Report of the international society of automotive engineers, the annual demand for American plastic wood composites is about 700000 tons, and it is expected that the average annual growth rate will exceed 15% in the next few years. The European plastic wood industry has also accelerated in recent years. From 2004 to 2005 in Germany, the disadvantages of graphite as negative electrode doubled
according to incomplete statistics, China recycles more than 2.5 million tons of waste plastics every year, more than 8million tons of wood waste such as construction and decoration are produced in cities every year, more than 10million tons of waste such as branches and debris are produced by forest cutting and wood processing, and about 200million tons of straw and 35million tons of rice husk are produced in rural areas every year. Therefore, the task of waste recycling and resource utilization is quite arduous. The plastic wood composite material, which takes waste wood and waste plastics as the main raw materials, can just play a big role in the field of waste resource utilization. According to rough estimates, each ton of plastic wood composites produced is equivalent to cutting down 1.5 eucalyptus trees with 30 years of age, reducing the pollution of 60000 waste plastic bags, and reducing the hidden danger of film residue in 114 mu of farmland. It has very significant ecological and environmental benefits and is a real low-carbon industry
however, Professor Chen Zhenlou said that, like most industries, the product technology research and development of China's plastic wood industry is insufficient. Most plastic wood production enterprises are weak in technology and lack innovation ability. There is a lack of communication, coordination and cooperation mechanism between state-owned R & D institutions and plastic wood enterprises, and it is difficult to transform scientific research achievements. The survey shows that since 2000, about 200 journal documents, about 80 invention patents and about 50 utility model patents have been published in the research and development of plastic wood composites in China, but most of the achievements have not been industrialized, and the product standards lag behind. At present, domestic plastic wood products are in a vacuum zone with neither national standards nor industrial standards. The only plastic wood pallet and floor standards are formulated with reference to the standards of wooden pallet and floor. This has also resulted in the fact that China's plastic wood products are basically medium and low-grade products such as pallets and mattresses, and there is a lack of profiles and complete sets of products with good performance, fine workmanship, complex shape and beautiful surface
Chen Zhenlou suggested that a unified national standard or industry standard for the plastic wood industry should be formulated quickly to regulate the source, production and sales of raw materials for plastic wood materials and finished products, and measures should be formulated to encourage technological research and development in this industry and support and encourage enterprises to become independent technological innovation subjects
